Jeffrey Evans, Esq. is an experienced family law and civil litigation attorney who has spent twenty years representing clients in litigation matters, including representing clients in state courts, federal courts and arbitrations. Jeff’s practice focuses exclusively on representing clients in family law matters including divorce, spousal and child support, child custody and visitation and the division of marital property. He has represented clients in family law matters in Anne Arundel, Howard, Calvert and Queen Anne’s County. He believes that the best approach to resolve family law cases is non-adversarial but that the adversarial, litigation process may be necessary and appropriate in some cases.
In one of my most difficult times in my life, when some attorney's want to bill for the most hours, Jeff was upfront and wasn't about the hours. Jeff always found a collaborative balance with the legal side of a divorce and the human or the personal side. Jeff was honest, moral, professional, provided REAL advice and didn't sugarcoat the situation when maybe my emotions were high. He always had my interests in the front of his mind but didn't let me get caught on the little things. Jeff is well-respected, creative, compassionate and listens with an open mind.
Mr. Evans has helped me very much through a contentious divorce. What is particularly amazing is all of my ex-spouses motions have been denied or dismissed. Mr. Evans was able to get the court to award me legal fees, which is hard to do.
I came to Mr. Evans under the recommendations of two friends. From the start he was professional, concise, sympathetic to my plight, organized and tenacious. Whether you are in court or just reviewing pertinent emails between the councils on your behalf, you will clearly see the quality of his expertise. Billing charges were well within reason and you knew the account for each charge, nothing was hidden or padded. There was never a time he was inaccessible other than being in court itself. The staff were always on top of what needed to be done, easily reachable and always friendly.
The true test, and really the only test that matters, of an attorney’s effectiveness is the results achieved for his clients. Jeff believes that family law attorneys must focus on their client’s families and take a holistic approach to resolving conflicts and ensure that client decisions are not made out of anger, hurt or spite but are based on an understanding of how those decisions will impact their family long term. Rarely is contested litigation the best approach, but clients must be prepared for this possibility and be able to put their best food forward in court. Communication is the key to any successful relationship, whether that is the attorney/client relationship, the spousal relationship, or the co-parenting relationship after a divorce has been completed. Jeff understands the importance of communication and his goal is to help his clients determine the most effective and efficient means of moving forward and putting their life back together after the divorce process has been completed through effective communication and collaborative decision making.
